Lincoln police believe vandals ransacked a former elementary school building during the weekend, causing $3,000 in damages.
A maintenance worker discovered the vandalism on Monday morning at the former Hawthorne Elementary School.
The vandals sprayed fire extinguishers throughout the building, broke doors, shattered glass and smashed computer monitors, police said.
Footprints at the scene led investigators to believe at least three people were involved.
Police are eyeing a possible connection to recent vandalism at other schools.
