Copper thieves take on cell phone towers -- Edmond, OK

Copper theft is nothing new. But recently, crooks have gone to new heights to steal the valuable metal. There have been several reports of thieves getting into cell phone tower sites and raiding hundreds of feet of copper. Over the weekend, Justin Tyner, Eric Selby and Jason Sanders were arrested in Canadian County. An alert Deputy spotted a suspicious car in a rural area and pulled over the driver.

Inside the car, he allegedly found evidence linking the suspects to thefts in Norman, Edmond, Oklahoma City and the Yukon area.

Edmond Police Spokesperson Glynda Chu says, "The disturbing thing is they had all these maps, including two that were hit in Edmond. They were very sophisticated. They had a plan and went from one tower to another."
