$130 Thousand stolen from sheriff's office -- Penascola, FL

A woman who helped keep the Sheriff's office serving Pensacola financially sound has been arrested, charged with looting the department of more than $130 thousand over the last 2 years.

Cathy Lister has been charged with felony larceny. She was released on $25,000 bond on Thursday.

The 58-year-old accounting associate worked for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, where she made sure money coming into the department, including cash seized as part of investigations, was deposited into an evidence trust fund.

Lt. Ray Briggs says Lister had taken cash from some of those transactions.

The charges were filed about a week after she retired from the department.
