
"It was pretty devastating to us," said Kay Lewis, president of the Cuero Development Corporation December Events Committee. "We all stood out there and cried because that's our baby."
Early-morning golfers discovered the vandalized scenes Sunday in the Cuero Municipal Park. A 30-foot lighted steel steamboat fixture was contorted; a 37-foot steel American flag fixture was submerged in nearby Cuero Lake; and a separate fixture, Sally the Sea Serpent, was in pieces. Her tail and a center piece were also found in the lake.
